Salmon Cakes
The best Salmon Cakes that you can make at home! and with only a few ingredients!
Ingredients
- 500 grams Salmon
- 1 Shallot
- 1 small red bell pepper
- 1 TBSP Capers
- 1 TBSP Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 TBSP Chives Sub for Parsley, or DIll
- 2 TBSP Bread Crumbs panko is better
- 2 TBSP Mayonnaise optional
- Salt to taste
- Pinch of Black pepper
Instructions
Preparing the Salmon
- Remove skin and grey tissue.
- Check for any bones.
- Cut salmon into smaller pieces.
Poaching the Salmon
- Poach briefly in simmering water with lemon, bay leaf, and optional peppercorns.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove just before fully cooked to avoid overcooking.
Preparing the Cakes
- Finely chop shallots, red bell and capers, and slice chives.
- Sauté shallots until clear.
- Combine sautéed vegetables, salmon, breadcrumbs, egg yolks, and optional mayonnaise.
- Season with salt.
- Cook and test a small piece for seasoning.
- Roll out salmon patties on parchment paper with additional breadcrumbs.
Cooking the Cakes
- Sear in a hot pan until both sides turn golden brown.
- Patties should already be cooked through from poaching.
- Serve salmon cakes
