Salmon Cakes

The best Salmon Cakes that you can make at home! and with only a few ingredients!

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams Salmon
  • 1 Shallot
  • 1 small red bell pepper
  • 1 TBSP Capers
  • 1 TBSP Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 TBSP Chives Sub for Parsley, or DIll
  • 2 TBSP Bread Crumbs panko is better
  • 2 TBSP Mayonnaise optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of Black pepper

Instructions
 

Preparing the Salmon

  • Remove skin and grey tissue.
  • Check for any bones.
  • Cut salmon into smaller pieces.

Poaching the Salmon

  • Poach briefly in simmering water with lemon, bay leaf, and optional peppercorns.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove just before fully cooked to avoid overcooking.

Preparing the Cakes

  • Finely chop shallots, red bell and capers, and slice chives.
  • Sauté shallots until clear.
  • Combine sautéed vegetables, salmon, breadcrumbs, egg yolks, and optional mayonnaise.
  • Season with salt.
  • Cook and test a small piece for seasoning.
  • Roll out salmon patties on parchment paper with additional breadcrumbs.

Cooking the Cakes

  • Sear in a hot pan until both sides turn golden brown.
  • Patties should already be cooked through from poaching.
  • Serve salmon cakes
